For those unfamiliar with the DCAMU, it stands for the DC Animated Movie Universe and it encompasses 15 films. If you’re wondering what order you should watch them in, we’ve got you covered. The DCAMU began with 2013’s Man of Steel, which was the first entry in the DCEU. That year, DC also released its first animated movie for a more mature audience, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox.

In 2014, DC rebooted its comic book universe, which served as the basis for the rest of the DCAMU. The following year, Batman: Bad Blood kicked off the new animated universe with a bang. Since then, DC has released several more great animated films, culminating in this year’s Justice League Dark: Apokolips War.

1. Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox.

The film Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox is the first in a series of films that share an animated universe. In this film, the chief protagonist, Barry Allen, wakes up to a world in which his mother is alive after a battle with his rogues. The reason behind the new world is his fault.

The film does a great job establishing the tone of what this shared universe will be. Its PG-13 rating allows it to go a bit farther with the violence and language, which makes for a more intense and exciting experience. You also get to see your favorite superheroes in different, warped farms. There’s a brutal Wonder Woman, an emaciated Superman, an even MORE aggressive Batman. How Barry returns to the world he knows makes for a very spectacular climax and a heartbreaking choice. The film also leads to the next adventure for this new version of the Justice League, which will no doubt be just as thrilling as this one.

2. Justice League: War

Re-introducing the heroes and their new attitudes is one of the many things Justice League: War does great. While some heroes, such as Batman, The Flash, and Cyborg, don’t experience much change, others have undergone more significant changes. Superman is younger and more aggressive, Wonder Woman is now more warrior than peacekeeper, and Green Lantern Hal Jordan is cockier than before with a wit to rival Spider-man.

3. Son of Batman

In 1987, DC published a story in which Batman and Talia Al Ghul slept together for the first time, resulting in Talia’s pregnancy. However, Talia later tells Batman that she lost the baby during a battle. The story ends with a baby left on a doorstep. The child is not revisited until 2006, when Grant Morrison begins writing BATMAN. Morrison then creates Damian Wayne, a young, headstrong fighter who is just as stubborn as his father.

4. Justice League: Throne of Atlantis

We are first introduced to Arthur Curry as a man without purpose, mourning the death of his father. The only thing we know for sure about him at this point is that he’s very strong and very blond. In the sequel to WAR, we learn a little about Arthur and why he’s oblivious to his destiny. We also learn more about the team and some subplots begin to form. Most notably, the relationship between Superman and Wonder Woman.

5. Batman and Robin

The relationship between Damian and Bruce is still a very complicated one, as seen in the Batman and Robin series. Batman is continuing to try and teach his son to control his assassin tendencies while Robin- despite everything- is trying to show his father that he can be a trusty sidekick. In this film, we also see the adaptation of the first Batman storyline from the New 52 era, The Court of Owls. The Court goes after Batman using two different methods; by attacking him with undead warriors known as Talons, and also by trying to lure Robin away from Bruce.

6. Batman: Bad Blood

The Dark Knight has always been considered a loner, but the truth is, he’s one of the few characters in comics who have a legit family. He has a father figure in Alfred, and two sons in **** Grayson and Damian Wayne – one adopted and one biological. But he’s never truly been able to open up to the idea of being part of a family. His trauma from the death of his parents doesn’t allow him to accept that he’s part of a family now. This is a theme that was once touched on in the hilarious Lego Batman movie, and it’s a theme that’s touched on again in Batman: Bad Blood.
